  1. Some say that the economic collapse will be caused by a hyperinflation and others say it will be a collapse first of the bond market. Reading your posts leads me to think the bond market will go first.

I think a trigger will be more countries taking their currencies away from a free-floating exchange rate. Some Indian leaders have already mentioned this. In an opposite way that China forces a low exchange rate, a few Indian leaders have talked about a stronger rupee. They do have ties with the US, but monetarily when other countries are not beholden to US growth, it will be what you describe of no buyers for the dollar.

  3. if I am understanding the analogy correctly, when John pays back Sue,for the sake of simplicity, he borrowed $20 of sugar, he is exchanging a $20 bill at the store (bank) and getting sugar (gold coin) and giving it to Sue. So the $20 bill is no longer in circulation and Sue has the gold coin the debt is repaid. What does the bank do with the $20 bill? They give it to Sue if she wants the bill. Or would/could they also make loans based on that $20 up to the reserve requirements? i guess the feedback mechanicism in place under a gold standard is if consumer thought that the bank was making too many loans, they could demand gold or move their account to another bank with gold.

  4. The Federal Reserve isn’t a government institution. It’s privately owned and its shareholders are all private banks. The Treasury issues taxpayer debt via bonds to dealers who auction them off. The Fed can create fiat money out of thin air and buy what it wants to add to its reserves. The taxpayer then coughs up the interest which pays the Fed’s operating expenses plus a guaranteed return to its banker shareholders. The Fed’s mandate is to protect the private banking system.

  5. If the majority of people could only grasp the simple concept of exponential interest as a defined law! The only way to combat that exponential graph is at the same time decreasing the value through inflation. It is the only way. We cannot grow exponentially. It’s impossible.
